At the Bottom of Petersburg’s Wells

Street and artistic photography are an observation of reality and real people.
I photograph not those who are typically talked about, but rather those who usually go unnoticed: the homeless, and people who contend with depression and loneliness every single day. My subjects are captured within their own familiar environments. I observe their daily lives—their movements, gestures, and the way they look at the world. I strive to see the person behind the external circumstances—to reveal their character, their inner world, their vulnerabilities, and their strengths. It is important to me not to interfere, but instead to preserve the moment exactly as it exists in reality.
Loneliness, memory, and time are recurring themes in my work: street portraits taken in New York and Los Angeles, images of the homeless in Saint Petersburg, and theatrical photographs—all explore our era and the place that the individual occupies within it.
